The number of ovules found in an ovary is not always equal to the number of seeds found in the fruit developed from that ovary. This is because of the fact that not all ovules found in an ovary are always pollinated or fertilised to develop into seeds. The chance of number of seeds becoming equal to ovules increase, when there only one or few ovules present. But when many ovules are present in an ovary, then there are rare chances that all ovules would get successfully fertilized and develop into seeds.
