Blood platelets are one of the three constituent of blood along with RBC's & WBC's. These are formed in bone marrow i;e from the megakaryocyte cell. These are irregular in shape, without nucleus and plays major role in the blood clotting. Whenever a person had an injury, these platelets prevent the excess loss of blood by forming clots. Blood platelets are also known as thrombocytes and their approx amount in blood is around 1.5 − 3.5 × 105/ mm3 of blood.
