Raj, on his birthday, distributed chocolates in anorphanage. He gave 2 chocolates to eachchild and 20 chocolates to adults. Considering number of children as x and total number ofchocolates distributed is y, form the linear equation. If the total number of chocolatesdistributed is 150, how many children are there inthe orphanage. Explain the value depictedby Raj in the question.

Let the number of children be x and the total number of chocolates be y.Since, Raj distributed 150 chocolates so y=150.....(i)Also, Raj gave 2 chocolates to each child so he distributed 2x chocolates in the children.He gave 20 chocolates to adults so the equation becomes 2x+20=y.....(ii)Substituing (i) in (ii) we get2x+20=1502x=130x=65Thus, there are 65 children in the orphanage.
