Temporary magnets does not stay magnetized for longer amount of time. They show the magnet like properties when they come in the influence of magnetic field or the magnetic strength.So you can find the poles by bringing one pole of the temporary magnet near the north pole of the bar magnet . If the bar magnet and the temporary magnet repel then it means it is the north pole and the other is the south pole and if it attracts then it will be south pole and the other is the north pole.
