Solution

Hydrogen and oxygen combined in 1 : 8 ratio to give water,

H2 + O2 ----> H2O

We know that 1 mole of H2 molecule contains = 2g

1 mole of O2 molecule contain = 16g

So, if we add 1g of H2 and 8g of O2 , water will not be formed. It can be formed only when we combine hydrogen and oxygen having a mass equal to its atomic mass.

So if we take 2 g of H2 and 16g of O2 , water will be formed.
