The Indian national anthem "Jana Gana Mana" was first sung in the Calcutta Session of the Indian National Congress, on 27 December 1911, a time when the India was reeling under the British rule.
Rabindra Nath Tagore, who composed and wrote the original song, talked about the ultimate Victory (Jaya He) of the God of Destiny (of India) whom he considered the force that made the country rise from several crisises, since centuries.
