Question

Sunlight is a source of light energy.Cant that light energy be used by the whole living worldwithout making food to stay alive?

Solution

Plants can only utilise sunlight as a source of energy for preparing food and rest of the living world depends directly or indirectly on plants for food. Plants are the producers of food by using sunlight and all other organisms do not have the capacity to utilise light energy. So, most organisms get food from plants for survival and plants synthesise them using sunlight. Organisms other than producers can not utilise light energy directly for survival.
