Seedling comes out of the germinating seeds. Seedling consists of the radicle ( primary root) and embryonic shoot. Embryonic shoot comprises of the cotyledons (seed leaves), the section of shoot below the cotyledons (hypocotyl), and the section of shoot above the cotyledons (epicotyl). ​First the radicle emerges out of the seed to anchor the seedling with the soil and also to absorb water. Then, the shoot emerges.
