Question

The length of a rectangle is 3 times its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 96m, then the area of the rectangle is?

Open in App
Solution

Let the width of the rectangle , b = x m

length of the rectangle,l = 3x m

perimeter = 2 [ l + b]

so, 96 = 2[3x + x]

⇒ 96 = 2(4x)

⇒ 96 = 8x

⇒ x = 12

so, width = b = 12m

length = l = 36 m

area = l × b = 36 × 12 = 432 m2
