Question

the list price of a watch is Rs400 a customer gets two successive discounts the first being 10% calculate in percentage the second discount if the customer pays Rs306 for it

Open in App
Solution

List price of the watch = Rs 400

First discount percent = 10

Price of the watch after first discount = Rs (400 - 10% of 400) = Rs (400 - 40) = Rs 360

Selling price of the watch = Rs 306

Second discount = Price of the watch after first discount - Selling price

= Rs 360 - Rs 306

= Rs 54

Second discount percent = (Second discount ÷ Price of the watch after first discount) × 100

= (54 ÷ 360) × 100

= 15

Thus, the second discount is 15%.
