Question

The ratio of distances traversed in successive intervals of time when a body falls freely under gravity from a certain height is?

Open in App
Solution

Distance travelled in time t under free fall is :
s = 1/2gt2

Distance travel in 1st second = 1/2g

Distance travel in 2nd second = distance travelled in 2 seconds - distance travelled in 1 second
1/2g22 - 1/2g = 3/2 g

Ration of these distance = 3g212g
Ratio = 3:2
