The various education policies of the Government of India fall fall under the heading of the National Policy on Education. This policy covers both school and college education. The broad objectives of the policy are
1. Universal access and enrolment.
2. All children till at least the age of 14 should be in school.
3. Substantial improvement in the quality of education.
Recently, the Government of India has also launched more ambitious education policies. The most important one is called the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) which aims at the universalisation of primary education. The Indian Parliament has also passed the Right to Education act under which it is the right of every child to receive school education till the age of 14.
