Question

Three dice are thrown simultaneously. Find the probability that 4 has appeared on two dice given that 5 has occured on one dice.

Open in App
Solution

When 3 dice are rolled, n(S)= 6^3 =216
Let A be the event of getting 4 on two dice and 5 on 1 dice.
Then n(A)=n {(4,4,5)(4,5,4)(5,4,4)}=3
So probability = n(A)/n(S)= 3/216=1/72
