Two billiard balls are rolling on a flat table. One has velocity compoments, Vx= 1 m/s, Vy=root3 m/s and other has components Vx= 2 m/s and Vy= 2 m/s. If both the balls start moving from the same point, what is the angle between their paths?

Here,
V1=1i+3j

V2=2i+2j

Dot product of the two vectors are
V1 .V2=1i+3j.2i+2j=1.(2)+13.(2)=5.47

Magnitude of the vectors are

V1=12+32=1.82V2=22+22=2.83

Now the angle between the path of the balls

cos θ=V1.V2V1.V2=5.471.82×2.83=5.475.16=1or, θ=0ο
