Question

two cars are moving in the same direction with same speed 30 km /hr. they r separted by a distance of 4km . what is the speed of the car moving in the opp. direction if it meets these two cara at an interval of 5 mins

Solution

Speed of cars (Suppose A and B) moving in the same direction=30 km/h
Speed of car (Suppose C) moving in the opposite direction=x (Suppose)
Speed of cars A and B w.r.t C, =30-x
Time interval=5min=5/60 h=1/12 h
Distance travelled =4 km
Using,
Speed=Distance/Time
30-x=4/(1/12)
or x=-18 km/h
i.e Car C is moving with speed 18km/h in opposite direction.
