Solution

The correct option is B O2 and He
For monoatomic gas, γ=53=1.67
For diatomic gas, γ=75=1.4

γmonoatomic>γdiatomic

For an adiabatic process,
PVγ=Constant

P1Vγ

For a given V, lower the value of γ, higher will be the value of P.

As, curve (1) will have higher P for a given V,

Curve (1) will be a diatomic gas (O2) and curve (2) will be a monoatomic (He) gas.

Hence, option (B) is correct.
Why this question?

Key concept: For PVγ=constant, in PV graph, higher the value of γ, higher the slope.
