Question

Weight of a person on a planet is 1/2 of earth. He can jump upto 0.4m height on the surface of the earth. How high can he jump on the planet?

Solution

Hello!
The weight of a person on Earth = W = mg

the weight of person on another planet = W2 = W/2 = mg2

here, the mass will remain constant.

So, g2 = g/2

thus if the person were to jump h = 0.4 m on Earth, he will be able to jump

h2 = 2h = 0.8 m on another planet.
