The traits that is present in a gene if causes death of an organism is known as lethal trait. The allele that carries the trait is known as lethal allele and the gene is lethal gene. When the trait is dominant, it kills its carrier in both homozygous and heterozygous conditions. In recessive trait the carrier is killed only in homozygous condition.
