Solution

Gram Positive Bacteria

Gram Negative Bacteria

Have multilayered cell walls.

Have single layered walls.

Stain a purple color in a crystal violet dye.

Will not react to crystal violet dye but only to a counter stain thus giving away a pinkish colored stain.

Penicillin resistant.

Respond well to penicillin treatment.

Persist in dry environments better and are often found on places like the skin and in dust.

Killed more quickly by drying but thrive in aqueous environments.

Bacteria are classified because of their characteristic staining properties under the microscope, during Grams method of staining.
