What are the skills involved in Green revolution?
Green Revolution is a revolution in the field of agriculture.When India was stagnant in agriculture , introduction of HYV seeds proved to be a boon.HYV seeds were the main feature of Green Revolution. Talking about the skills involved in Green Revolution,first is the way HYV seeds have to be treated ,require skill! HYV seeds require adequate amount of pesticides,fertilizers and irrigation to grow which cannot be afforded and practiced by amateur farmers. Moreover,with green revolution,there was introduction of machines for agriculture which required a different set of skills to operate.Also,with more yield per hectare,farmers were selling their produce in market which required marketing skills.So,green revolution was not about a one time increase in produce,but a long time investment for better produce in future.
Spreading of Green Revolution also required some skills. Initially,the effects of the revolution were concentrated in the states of Punjab,Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. and that too mostly for wheat.It was post 1970's that other states and crops experienced effects of revolution.So,a managerial skill was what required for the spread of the revolution.
