what do we mean when we say that human beings stop growing after they have reached a certain age or size?

It means that the after a certain period of time or when a person reaches a particular age he stops growing in height. The height of which will not grow further. But it does not mean that the person stops growing,growth is not stopped its a continous as long as the person lives.
