Solution

Dear Student,
The British had imposed many different types of taxes (permanent settlement, ryotwari, mahalwari) on both the peasants and the zamindars. These taxes were very high and it was difficult for both the classes to meet this high tax demand. The peasants were continuously in debt and were unable to pay the zamindars who, in turn, were unable to pay the British. As a result they resented the high taxes.
