Pituitary gland is a small, unpaired endocrine gland that is present on the floor of cranium of brain. It controls the secretion of several important hormones. Pituitary gland is divided into three lobes – anterior lobe, intermediate and posterior lobe.

The anterior pituitary gland consists of the anterior lobe of pituitary which secretes several peptide hormones for the regulation of growth, stress, reproduction etc.

LH (Leutinising hormone) and FSH (Follicle stimulating hormone) are the major hormones secreted by anterior pituitary gland.
