The female reproductive organs or sex organs in the angiosperms is the pistil (also called as carpel). It is the whole structure which consists of stigma, style and ovary.

The female gametophyte is a part of reproductive organ of female and is located in the ovary. It is also called as ovule embryo sac. It contains the egg cell and central cell that become fertilized and give rise to the seed and endosperm of the seed respectively.
