In biology, hierarchy means different stages or levels of classification starting from kingdom to species. Each organism has a specific position in biological world maintaining its hierarchical position. Taxonomic hierarchy and category is the same thing which explains about the rank of an organism.

Taxon is a term used to denote a rank in classification of organism.
