Question

What is the formula used to calculate refractive index of 2 materials when absolute refractive index of both is given

Open in App
Solution

If a light travels from vacuum to any transparent medium then the refractive index of the medium with respect to the vacuum is called it's absolute refractive index. So, if two mediums 1 and 2 are there then there respective absolute refractive index is given as,
μ1=cv1 and μ2=cv2
So, by using these equations, the absolute refractive index of the material can be easily calculated.
