In India, parents celebrate the birth of a male child because they believe that in future he will be the breadwinner of the family and he will take their family’s name forward. On the other hand, birth of a girl child is considered to be doom because parents feel that they have to spend money on her education and then her marriage. Moreover, she won’t even stay with them in future after her marriage and thus their family name would no longer exist.
