What will happen if the blood rich in oxygen and the blood rich in carbon dioxide mix with each other?

Open in App
Solution

  • The right side of the heart collects carbon di oxide rich blood and after getting into lungs it picks up oxygen and become oxygen rich blood and the left side of the heart collects it and pumps into parts of the body. It is totally separate function and cannot be mixed with each other.

  • But, if the direction of blood flow gets changed for any reason in abnormal health condition or heart valve breakage, there is a possibility to mix, that will lead to serious threat like death.
