Found in lower organisms	Found in higher organisms
Each fragment grows into a new organism.	Each piece may not grow into an organism like tail of lizard does not gives rise to a lizard.
No specialized cells are involved.	Carried out by specialized cells only
E.g. Spirogyra	E.g. Hydra, Planaria
