which will contain larger number of atom 1g of gold or 1g of silver.(atomic mass of gold=197; silver=108u)

Open in App
Solution

<p>The molar mass that is the mass of one mole of gold is 197g. Since there are 6.022 X 1023 particles in one mole of a substance, therefore 197g of gold will contain 6.022 X 1023 atoms of gold. Hence</p> <p>Number of atoms in 197g of gold = 6.022 X 1023 </p> <p>Number of atoms in 1g of gold = (6.022 X 1023) / 197 = 3.057 X 1021 </p> <p>Similarly, the molar mass of silver is 108g. Therefore </p> <p>Number of atoms in 108g of silver = 6.022 X 1023 </p> <p>Number of atoms in 1g of silver = (6.022 X 1023) / 108 = 5.576 X 1021 </p> <p>Hence, the number of atoms in 1g of silver are more than number of atoms in 1g of gold. </p>
