who were the moderates? how did they propose to struggle against british rule?
-The moderate leaders in the Indian National Congress were characterized by their careful approach towards the British rule and their mild demands for constitutional reform and rights.
-The moderates did not believe in aggression and wanted to "Work together" with the British regime and were of the opinion that the British wanted to be just to India but were unsuccessful because they did not know the state of affairs. But in reality, the British did not see them as a real threat.
- The moderates did not want to annoy the British and had become known for being submissive to the rulers and only petitioning and praying to the government for small concessions.
- They were thus cast as weak and their non- aggressive petitioning to the government with no significant results, finally paved way for the extremists who were much more outspoken about their demands.
