Question

Why a balanced chemical equation never gets completed in a single step.

Open in App
Solution

Most of the reactions take place in more than one step as many intermediate compounds are formed in the process of getting final results. But when we write an overall balanced equation, it includes only the starting reactants and final products. So, it seems that the reaction has taken in a single step. But actually most of the reactions include a series of elementary reactions.
