Why are certain castes considered as 'superior ' to others?

1.All caste are equals.However on the basis of kind of work particular group of people do,they were assigned the low caste and superior caste by the people who consider their work more superior than others.
2.The work of cleaning, barbers,shoe mending etc. were considered low whereas those who run administration, teach, do trade and commerce, religious task were considered superior.
3.Thus this is an artificial stratification done by the society for their own selfish motives, otherwise all caste are equal.
