Question

why do plants have cell wall and animals do not have

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student!

Apart from plants, cell wall which is a permeable structure is also present in bacteria, fungi and algae. The major function of cell wall is to provide rigidity and strength and also providesmechanisms for plants to take up water. Since animals are blessed with movement and have a body plan which imparts them strength, they do not need a cell wall.
