why do the noise comes when we break our knuckles

The two bones are joined (in contact ) with each other at their cartilage surfaces . and these are coordinated by a joint capsule . this capsule consist of gases like CO2, N2 , O2 etc . when we stretches our fingers the pressure increases and the gases try to escape out from the reduced volume of the capsule . hence produces cracking sound
