Question

Why does an athlete breathe faster and deeper than usual after fishing the race.

Open in App
Solution

When an athlete runs there occurs anaerobic respiration due to lack of oxygen. Anaerobic respiration leads to formation of lactic acid in the muscle cells and to convert this lactic acid into carbon dioxide oxygen is required. This is the reason why an athlete breathes faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race.
