Question

Why does cyclic phosphorylisation occur?

Open in App
Solution

The addition of a phosphate group to a protein or other organic molecules is known as phosphorylation. It occurs both in light and dark reactions of photosynthesis. The ATP produced from the non cyclic phosphorylation in light reaction is not sufficient for the light independent reactions. For this reason cyclic phosphorylation is necessary to produce more amount of ATPs.
