why does intake of alcohol make us more prone to diseases

Alcohol is absorbed into bloodstream through the stomach. Alcohol results in increased death of mature immune cells like lymphocytes and monocytes (T Cells) in the blood and thymus and weakens the immune system of the body. Thus making the person more susceptible to the other diseases like HIV, tuberculosis, Pneumonia etc.
