Question

Why does the filament of the bulb is spiral in shape?

Open in App
Solution

Filament is made spiral in shape to increase its length. As resistance of a body is directly proportional to the length of a conductor and hence, more heat energy is produced in it as the current I flows through a conductor of resistance R for a time t, then the heat produced in it is given by the relation H = I2Rt
