why is granite an inert electrode ?

Instead of granite, it should be graphite.

Graphite (carbon) electrode is not readily easily oxidized under the conditions encountered in most cells and unlike most non-metals, carbon conducts electricity.Therefore, graphite is used as an inert electrode.
