why is it difficult to make anti-viral medicines than anti-bacterial medicines?
Anti-viral medicines are difficult to make than anti-bacterial medicines as virus uses the host cell’s machinery to replicate. Therefore it becomes difficult to specifically target a process in virus, not compromising the same activity in the host. Also virus shows variation in its antigens making it difficult to target the viral antigens for medication. This is a major mechanism by which viruses invades the host’s immune system.
