Cell is known as a structural and functional unit of living organism because every organism is made up of cell and functions that an organism performs is due to the activity of the cells. Our body structure and shape is made up of cell only, cells with same function combine together to form a tissue, different tissues come together to form an organ and different organs come together to form a system, different systems constitute a body of an organism. Function performed by any system of the body is due to the cells only. Cell is a basic unit of life.
