Question

why particularly iron, aluminium, copper are more prone to acid attacks??

Open in App
Solution

The reactivity of metals towards acid attack is based on the relative standard electrode potential of the metal as metals with more negative electrode potential like Al, Fe etc dissolve easily producing hydrogen gas but rest do not dissolve easily.

This is the reason behind he activity of given metals however copper does not has negative value and so it acts with strong oxidizing acids only.
