Question

why stomata are more numerous in number in lower surface than in upper surface of a leaf?

Open in App
Solution

The more number of stomata usually are in lower surface of the leaf to reduce the rate of transpiration through stomata. The stomata that are on the upper part of the leaf are more exposed to sun light and wind flow which results in more loss of water than in lower surface.
