Biodiversity is the extent of variation of life forms within a given ecosystem.It is a function of climate. In tropical regions there is typically rich whereas polar regions support fewer species.The term biological diversity was used first by wildlife scientist and conservationist Raymond F. Dasmann in the 1968. A region with a high level of endemic species is called a hotspot.
