In 1925 the ‘Indian Communist Party’ was founded which was radical in approach towards the British government. The British government was becoming worried of its expansion as communalism was spreading in other British colonies as well.
Charges: In March 1929, 31 labour leaders from Bombay, Calcutta and Poona were arrested on the charge of;
Conspiracy against the British government.

depriving the King of the sovereignty of British India
Trial: The labour leaders were taken to Meerut (U.P.) and were tried there only. the case lasted for four years and Several Indian lawyers pleaded this case
Result: Save for a few leaders, all were sentenced to death.
Effect: The court order provoked nationwide resentment to such an extent that the British government had to declare the Public Safety Ordinance to deal with the demonstrators.
Conclusion: Meerut Conspiracy case demonstrated severe expression of anti colonialism. this case was something that the British government could not handle and had to surrender to the terms of the demonstrators.
