Pandian and Thamarai contested for the election to the Panchayat committee from their village. Pandian secured 11,484 votes which was 44% of the total votes. Thamarai secured 36% of the votes. Calculate (i) the number of votes cast in the village and (ii) the number of votes who did not vote for both the contestants.

Let the total number of votes cast in the village be x.
Then 44%×x=11484
x=11484×10044=26100votes
(1) Total no. of vote casted in the village=26,100votes
(2) No. of voters who didn't vote for both the contestants =20%×26100=5,220 voters.
