Solution

The correct option is C 34 years

Let x be the present age of Parker's son.
It is given that Parker's present age is 2 years more than four times the age of his son.

Hence, age of Parker's present age = 4x+2

After 10 years, his age will be 8 years more than twice the age of his son.

∴ Age of Parker's son after 10 years = x + 10

And,

Parker's age after 10 years = 4x + 2 + 10 = 4x + 12

So, writing the equation, we get:

$4x + 12 = 2 × (x + 10 ) + 8$

4x+12=2x+28

4x2x=2812

2x=16

x=162=8

So, Parker's age = 4 × x + 2 = 4 × 8 + 2 = 34

Hence, Parker's present age is 34 years.
