Partial neutralisation of a polybasic acid gives
Acidic salt
A polybasic acid contains more than one replaceable H atoms. It can undergo either partial or complete ionisation in several steps i.e., one H+ ion is separated from the molecule at one time.
The salts which contain replaceable hydrogen atom(s) when released in the aqueous solvent are termed as acidic salts.
For example, NaOH+H2SO4→NaHSO4+H2O, NaHSO4 is an acidic salt due to the presence of one replaceable H atom which can be further be replaced to give Na2SO4.
