Photosynthesis occurs in the leaves of plants. So, all the food is concentrated in the leaves. How do other non-green parts of the plants like stems and roots obtain food?
Phloem transports food to all parts of the plant
Photosynthesis occurs in the mesophyll cells of leaves. From the leaves, phloem tissue transports it to all other parts of the plant. Phloem tissue is made up of tubular interconnected cells. Parenchyma helps in photosynthesis and storage of food. Collenchyma provides flexibility and support to plant parts. Xylem transports water from the root to all parts of the plant body.
